5 Ways to Make a Life Change in 2022

A lot of the time, we tend to stick with what we are comfortable with, instead of going out of our comfort zones to fully reach a state of ultimate happiness with our lives. Your job pays the bills and puts food on the table, but what if it really isn’t what you love? Would you go back to school, or get uncomfortable for a bit, to make sure that you are actually doing what you love? The same question can be asked for many different aspects of our lives: relationships, where we live, and even who we are as an individual. Are you truly happy? If you answered, “no” to that question, or if you are unsure, it may be time to switch things up a bit. Not sure where to start? Here are 5 ways to make a life change in 2022:

Pay more attention to your health

If 2020 and 2021 taught us anything, it taught us that we need to really cherish what we have and improve our health. There are so many ways to do this, but I like to think about it as a whole-body improvement. Start with the inside and work your way out. So, this means focusing on the food you are eating and the amount of water you drink each day. Have your bloodwork done, and figure out what vitamins and supplements you should be taking. Cut back on toxic chemicals that can be found all around your house. Get enough sunshine on your skin each day and figure out ways to reduce your stress. Work out, but find what works best for you, don’t just follow the trends. Stop following fad diets, and instead, eat balanced meals. Sleep enough (this is so important!) and reduce your screen time. Like I said, there are so many ways that you can pay attention to your health and improve it. Your health definitely goes beyond drinking a gallon of water each day.

Revamp your closet

This might sound like a weird thing to put in this article, but hear me out. How we feel about ourselves has a lot to do with how we present ourselves and one important aspect of that is choosing outfits that make us feel great about ourselves. I don’t know about you, but I have a ton of clothes that I don’t wear and honestly, would probably never wear again. If you are in this boat, too, it’s time to get rid of these items and exchange them for clothing pieces that you truly love. Do a full closet clean-out first, and then make a list of what you want and need to make sure that you are stocked up for upcoming occasions, and casual days, as well. Doing this is a form of self-care that will help you feel your best each day! 

Make sure your relationships are bringing you joy

This is a very important one. Again – we get in a state where we are comfortable and we don’t make changes. The same goes for our relationships. We find friends (or even a girlfriend, boyfriend, spouse, etc.) and when things turn a bit sour, we make excuses. If we have a toxic friend, they are just your toxic friend that you put up with. We need to make a huge mindset shift because who you hang around is who you become. You should have people in your life that bring you joy. They should cheer on your accomplishments and they should help you pick up the pieces when things fall apart, as well. For some reason, women have become extremely competitive and have a hard time celebrating others accomplishments. Avoid friendships that focus solely on themselves and find people who truly bring you joy and happiness.

Take a risk and move to a new state

Say “no” more often

Have you ever said “yes” to a night out, or a party that you really just don’t want to go to? I’m with you right there. It is hard to say “no” to things, but when you start looking at it as a form of self-care, you might change your mind. There are only so many things that you can do each day. If you said “yes” to everything, you would be severely over scheduled and more than likely, over stressed, as well. In order to reduce your stress and make a huge positive change in your life – for yourself – start saying “no” to things that you either do not want to do, or really don’t have the bandwidth to do. You will become so much happier!

Of course there are many other things you can add to your habits list in 2022, but if you ask me this is a really great place to start! Becoming conscious of things that leave me feeling less than ideal is something I will continue to do as the new year approaches and I highly encourage you to do the same!
