5 Things Every Self-Proclaimed Instagramer Needs In Their Kitchen

Hi Loves,

If you don’t know by now that I’m straight up addicted to Instagram, then you’re missing out on the obvious. I’m perpetually on the app trying to catch up with everyone I follow and keep keep up my posting schedule of every couple of days. So would I call myself an Instagamer? At the very least I’m a self-proclaimed wannabe, and as one I feel there are certain things one needs in their kitchen to promote their IG career.

Everyone knows that there are just going to be some places in your house that you photograph more than others, and every kitchen needs potential. So here is a list of some important things to have in your kitchen if you too are a self-proclaimed Instagramer.  Please keep in mind that while this post is sponsored all the opinions are my own so don’t let that dissuade you from reading on!

1 – White plates.

Obviously food pictures will be taken in said kitchen, and theres nothing more sleek than having a perfectly cooked salmon fillet on a white plate with some greens. I mean basically whatever you make will be begging to be photographed on a white plate. Plus think about all the different table settings you can do with white plates. It leaves you open to so many different color combinations for all the different seasons and holidays. So just do it because it’s definitely worth purchasing and easy to find at places like Target!

2 – Tools that only have one use.

I know, I know why would you waste money on something that has only one use, but these tools are a necessity for any self-proclaimed instagramer. Most of these nifty tools come from Amazon and really are made for only one purpose, but wouldn’t that banana slicer look GREAT in a flat lay while you’re baking muffins?! It’s a must have and I refuse to believe otherwise. I truly don’t know what I’d do without my 3 step avocado slicer!

3 – An awesome countertop for flat lays.

Counter tops are important! They take you from actually using them for cooking to photographing your end product. I mean, you basically don’t have a kitchen without them. We all know how important that flat lay background is, it needs to be simple so you don’t take away from the product, but should also have some texture so it adds to the photo. It’s a very complex science. If you’re looking to commit to amazing kitchen photos definitely check out Premier Surfaces Buffalo NY. They have some amazing counters for bathrooms and kitchens! 100% flat lay worthy.

4 – A cookbook that you actually use.

Actually following along to some recipe you love and sharing photos of your messy process before the eventual delicious end product is a must. Plus what is a kitchen without a cookbook. Get one. Test recipes.  Take pictures of food. Boom. Why not go for a celebrity one (like Chrissy Teigen’s)? I mean if it’s good enough for the it’s good enough for us self-proclaimed small scale celebs.

5 – A photogenic cutting board.

Look, I’m not trying to tell you how to live your life but by golly if there is one thing you know how to do when entertaining guests it should be putting together a smashing cheese and meat board! That said you definitely need a cutting board that fits who you are as a person. Maybe it’s marble, maybe wood, or pink perhaps? Whatever you want it to look like get it and show it off to all your friends and followers! There’s truly no excuse for not having one when they are widely available at places like Target and Crate & Barrel.

If you’re like me and recently moved on September 1st then now is the perfect time to gather these things for your new kitchen space. What better excuse to do away with the old plastic cutting boards that you’d cringe to use as a cheese plate? These are just a few of my kitchen essentials for great Instagram photos, but I’d love to know some of yours! Us self-proclaimed Instagramers have to stick together you know!

Thanks for reading!

Love,

Me/E
