Summer 2015 Reflection

Hi Loves,

Summer has come to a close. I’m now back in Boston awaiting the first day of school. So I’m the meantime I will reflect on summer as everyone who is going back to school is probably doing. As you know I made a bucket list for this summer, 10 things I wanted to do this summer to make it the most fun and exciting summer yet. Now is the time to formally cross off my list to see just how many things I managed to do.

1.) Picnic in the Park – Though I didn’t post about it I actually managed to have a picnic in a park on the 4th of July. The park was right on the Hudson River with the fireworks overhead. It was a really fun night with my family and some really great picnic sandwiches!

Indian Brook Waterfall

Hi Loves,
Not too long ago my family and I decided to go on a hike together to Indian Brook Waterfall in Garison N.Y. It was a VERY hot day and honestly this hike was perfect! We were in the shade almost the entire time and the waterfall was so refreshing! It was deep enough to swim in, although none of us brought bathing suits, but we did bring some yummy peaches and apples from our garden and we had an environmentally friendly snack at the falls!

Summer Carnival

Hi Loves,
Tis the season for prizes, rides, and everything fried! Carnival/fair season is here! I went to my first carnival of the season on a fab friday night. Carnivals and fairs are one of the things I love most about summer, you can meet up with your friends, go on some fun rides, and eat some really really good food (my new favorite being fried Oreos!).

Hiking Bash Bish Falls

Hi Loves,
Last week my friends and I went on an adventure to Bash Bish falls in upstate NY. It wasn’t the sunniest day but it was still a lot of fun. I have a lot of friends who have been there but I had never been myself. The waterfalls were breath taking, and I honestly could not believe this was only an hour drive from my house and I had never been there.

Strawberry Picking!

Hi Loves,
Every year my mom and I become members of a local farm project which allows us to get fresh vegetables every week. This week we picked up kale, lettuce, green garlic, cabbage, and popping corn. In addition they gave us the option of picking our own quart of strawberries, which I had to do! My cousin and I went to the farm and got our veggies then went out to the field and picked the strawberries you see below. We ate some as we picked because they were just so good!

My First Time Geocaching

Hi Loves,

This weekend while spending the day with the kids I babysit I took them to a local park. I’ve heard of geocaching before and thought it would be a fun thing for us to do on our excursion. The first one we found was XS and had a list of people’s names and initials with dates. It was really cool to see all the people that had found the cach before we did. They loved exploring and searching for the geocach, it was fun to see!

Stone Church Hike

Hi Loves,
On Tuesday before going into work my friend and I decided to go for a hike to a place called The Stone Church a couple towns over from where we live. The day was perfect and the walk was so much fun. When we got to the cave, at the end of the trail, we kicked off our shoes and waded through the water to cool off. We really wanted to try and make it to the top of the cave where the waterfall starts from so we tried to hike up the side of it where we saw people coming down from.

First Walk of Summer

Hi Loves,
After work on Monday my friends and I decided to go walk on the Walkway over the Hudson. It is an amazing walking bridge that stretches from one side of the Hudson River to the other. The view from half way is stunning! It was such a sunny but windy day on Monday and because of that it was the perfect weather to be walking. Taking this walk makes me so excited to see what other activities I will have to do this summer, it really makes me look forward to walking and hiking as much as I can and with people I love!

My Summer 2015 Bucket List

Hi Loves,
As I sit here I am working on my annual summer bucket list. A list of fun things I want to do this summer. In the past I’ve had there on it like “spend a week on the Cape” or “drive across the country”. Cliche things that people want to do. This summer though I’m making a list of fun things I can do that will cost less than $30 to do. Meaning, spending a week in a fancy hotel will not be on the list this year (sorry past self, we have new priorities now).

1.) Picnic in the park – Having a good old fashioned picnic is something I always love to do. I feel like picnics are just a classic summer time activity that should be on everyone’s list. You can go fancy in a nice little garden, or a casual picnic by the lake. There are just so many ways it can be done and I love them all.
